What is the quality which causes one person to become an artist, a bricklayer or a master mechanic?
Is it a quality which is unique to each trade or profession?
Is one born with a tendency toward being an artist, a bricklayer, or a mechanic?
I don’t think so.
What makes someone good (or great) at what they do is the quality of control; the control one has over the elements of one’s craft or profession. Just as an artist needs to be able to control the palette and the brush or the bricklayer the mortar and raw materials, or the mechanic his or her tools… so too the salesperson needs to command over the tools of the trade.
And what is that tool?
